Sometimes life can be overwhelming. We make bad decisions or we neglect our own dreams. We look back on life and think to ourselves " what have I done with my life?". This won't always be the case, for some they may have accomplished all they hoped for. I still get sad and upset when I think of all of the bad choices I made in life. However, I refuse to let my past define me. My past decisions, mistakes and roads not taken are not what make me who I am.
I have held several positions in different career fields and I have more certifications than I care to admit. I am ok with that and if someone judges me that is ok with me as well. Someone else's opinion of me is not my business. After taking the time to evaluate my life, I decided to focus on what makes me happy. My struggles taught me that life is short and I wanted to help others. If I can help at least one person then I have fulfilled my goal.
No matter how old you are, you are still here. You can start a new career path or learn a new craft. Everyone is entitled to do what makes them happy. Being at peace with yourself and having a sense of self worth is all that should matter, as long as you are not hurting someone in the process of attaining your goals. Take the steps necessary to figure out what will make you feel fulfilled in this life. It does not matter if you are in your 20's, 40's or 60's; we all deserve to be happy. You are only limited by your own inhibition
According to the dictionary;
The definition of an inhibition is something that holds you back or restrains you from doing or thinking something. When you are concerned about your body and don't want to wear a swimsuit or go to the beach, your concern is an example of your inhibition.
Stop looking back on your life and start looking forward. Look forward to waking up and working on achieving your happiness, your goals and dreams. Those goals can be as simple as learning to sew or as deep and meaningful as changing your life's whole direction. Get out of that bad relationship, mend your broken ones. Talk to that friend you had a fight with, speak to someone about your depression, start that healthy lifestyle you keep thinking of. Write that book you keep thinking of or go back to school and be the teacher you dreamt of as a little kid. The sky's the limit. Stop making excuses. Stop feeling sorry for yourself. Stop thinking of the what if's.
It is never too late to help yourself. It is never too late to become the best version of yourself. It is never too late to have faith in yourself. You can achieve anything that you set your mind to, if only you can believe in yourself. Do not worry about what others will think of your decision to make a change or to learn something new. Do not let others have power over you. It does not matter if you have tried before or if last week it was a different dream or goal. Its ok to have more than one desire in life. Explore them all. Education and knowledge are fuel for motivation. So move forward, set out to conquer those obstacles that are holding you back. Face the fears that keep you from moving forward.
Remember that through God all things are possible. He has faith in you. If you need to talk things through, please reach out to me or to a friend whom you trust. I may not have all of the answers but I am here to talk them through with you. Talking things through can spark the flames and help you to start moving forward.
