Reflection

What does reflection mean? It means serious thought or consideration. How does reflecting help?

Reflection helps us gain insight and gives us incentive to move forward. When we take the time to examine ourselves we are able to see a clearer path. Reflection is a process of exploring where we have been and where we would like to go. Reflective practice is a way to gain self-awareness, clarity and knowledge. We gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and our actions.

So, how does one reflect? The first step is to think about your past. Think about the good and bad memories. How did you feel during those times? What where you thinking in those moments?

Next, dig deep and ask yourself; "what have I learned or can I learn from this." What knowledge have I gained? What have I learned that I could share with others?" Reflection can be a way to improve oneself. We can learn from our victories as well as our mistakes. Taking the time to examine your life, past & present, allows you to identify your strengths and weaknesses. Having identified your weakness you can then begin to build on them. Knowing your strengths can allow you to help others as well as yourself.

Reflecting on your past and present situations can help you to have a clear vision of what and who you truly want to be. With proper reflection you can use the information and knowledge you attain to assist you in creating SMART goals. SMART goals are Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Timed goals. Reflection can help you to not only realize where you want to be, but it can arm you with the knowledge to know how to avoid mistakes or tactics that have failed in the past. Reflecting on your past situations can steer you from going down roads that are not in the right direction of where you want to be.

Reflection can also allow you to see how far you have come in life; all of your victories and how being victorious made you feel. Learning about yourself from yourself and seeing how you are strong in some areas where others around you may be weak. This type of knowledge can help you to see where you may be able to help others.

Take a few moments to incorporate reflection into your day. This is a fantastic time to journal as well. When you reflect, you can write about what your reflecting on. What have you learned from? What memory sparked a smile? What weakness or area is lacking for you?

Have an amazing rest of your day and thank you for taking the time to read about reflection. As always, if I can help you in anyway, please reach out.
